ATLANTA BRAVES STADIUM MAY 2017 SETTING UP FOR BATTING PRACTICE SESSIONS HOME OF THE 2021 WORLD CHAMPIONS
My name is Carlton Alspaugh and I reside on Hilton Head Island. I have been a sports fan for my entire life and did work as a Tour Guide employee of the Atlanta Braves for three seasons in my early retirement years. Welcome to my sports card collection webpage.
This site is where I display and share my collection with other sports collectors in the hopes of finding trades just like those days on the playground before and after school. This is where my collecting days began in the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s. I grabbed a few cards here and there in the 1970s and bought a few boxes of wax packs in the 1980s to put away for me and to get some starter cards for my infant son. Another stretch in the early 1990s when the son began an interest in cards, but that had been the end of it until I retired and began looking through my old cards. This site is a part of that retirement reawakening into card collecting.
My original collection was created in real time throughout my life and the condition of the cards will reflect both my age at the time and therefore the quantity and quality of usage the cards received. Therefore, as a general rule, the older the card, the more likely you will see cards in the VG range. I have many cards that I keep that are below this threshold but you should never see them for trade on these lists. I have made a page here in the website where I have posted images of some of the most egregiously poor treatment of cards a kid (me) could dish out - appropriately called the Oops page - but these cards do not reflect the general condition of my collection. As a rule, I always provide scans for cards I trade and I do ask for scans from my trading partners - card grading is such a subjective process to me I find visual evidence. is always best. Bottom line, though, if you are looking for a Gem Mint vintage card then here is not where you would want to be looking.
The quality versus age rule is not absolute as I have added cards during these recent days throughout the realm of seasons. The 1950s collection has shown the greatest improvement in quality as I have purchased or traded into much higher quality cards.
In any regard, this site is intended for my pleasure and as an online presence to invite like minded sports card collectors to venture a trade possibility.
I will entertain quantity for quality as well as quality for quantity, so if you have something in mind, just let me know.
As of December 2021, I have been invited to join Vintage Card Traders and, even as a probationary member (probie), I am enjoying it greatly.
The spirit and attitude of these guys is what sport card trading should be all about. Even if you just want to stir up a single trade or two, I highly recommend visiting the site to take a look.

I am adding a new wrinkle to my collecting in adding some modern UV sets beginning in 2022. I have added a page for those set builds and you can find my "down the rabbit hole" efforts there.
Thanks to all for visiting my site.
